Temporary Medical Conditions
Disability Services for Students also provides assistance to students with "temporary injuries" from the waist up who may require on-campus transportation or other temporary classroom support.
1. If a student temporarily requires assistance getting notes (i.e., she/he is temporarily in a cast or sling and unable to write), DSS can either allow a classmate of the student (whom the student is responsible for recruiting) to come down to the office to scan and email or copy their notes for them, or special notetaker carbonless paper may be given to the student so they may provide it to a classmate.
2. DSS does not hire notetakers for temporary services. Furthermore, even if a note taker is currently employed by this office in the class(es) in question, DSS does not provide copies of those notes to students receiving temporary services.
3. DSS will provide a scribe (for exams only) for a student who is temporarily unable to write. The student must follow all office procedures with regard to accommodated exams (see section on accommodated exams & Guidelines for Alternative Testing).
A free, self-service scanner is located on Level 3 of Dimond Library, outside the Addison Reading Room.
Scans can be saved to USB flash drive or emailed. For best results, select the High Res and PDF options.

For help with the scanner, contact the IT Support Center.
Dragon Naturally Speaking, voice recognition software, is available for student use in the Assistive Technology Lab to assist students with completing assignments.
Wildcat Access Van Service Procedures
The UNH Wildcat Access service is also available for students with temporary disabilites who require transportation between classes due to the nature of their injury/condition. Students with temporary disabilities below waist requiring transportation should contact Health Services (862-2856) as soon as possible.
