Spring 2007 Disability Services News and Views
Registration for the Fall Semester;
Fall may be the last thing on your mind, but the registration process begins when the Time and Room goes on-line Wednesday, March 21. Begin early! Make an appointment to see your academic Advisor ASAP. Review classes on-line and have choices and alternates ready. If you have questions about how your disability might impact your classes, be sure to see Max or Kathy. If you think you qualify for Priority Registration, contact us quickly.
Attention All Disability Services Students When you meet with your advisor, please bring a copy of your accommodation letter. |
What is Priority Registration? Do You Need It?
Priority Registration? Do you use Interpreters for the Deaf; do you need classes at a particular time of day, because of your disability or side effects from your medication; do you have mobility issues and need classes in accessible locations? You may qualify for Priority Registration.Contact Becky ASAP to make an appointment
Critical Registration Information 1. Think about what works for you. Do you need smaller, more interactive classes, projects and papers in addition to exams; morning classes; classes that meet two or three times a week versus those that meet only once for 3+ hours? Before you check the Time and Room or meet with your advisor, answer these questions yourself. If youd like some help brainstorming about what works for you, come in to see us.
2. Meet with your Academic Advisor early and use the time well. Talk about your preferences (see #1) and ask her/him for input on your choice of classes and professors. Drop-In at C.F.A.R. in Wolff House for a look at student evaluations of various professors' classes and teaching styles.
3. BE ACTIVE AND INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS. THis is your opportunity to investigate courses and think carefully about how you learn. Take charge of the process and make it work for you.
