Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the differences among the Silver, Gold and Platinum Meal Plans?

While these plans all offer unlimited access to the three dining halls from open to close, they differ in the number of guest passes and Dining Dollars that each plan includes.
    • The Silver Plan has 4 guest passes and zero Dining Dollars.
    • The Gold Plan has 6 guest passes and 210 Dining Dollars.
    • The Platinum plan has 8 guest passes and 420 Dining Dollars.
  2. If students have unlimited access to the dining halls, why have Dining Dollars?

When the dining halls are closed or when you just want to grab a quick sandwich or some coffee and pick up a few convenience items, you have the option of eating and shopping at any of our 6 retail establishments, many of which stay open late. Dining Dollars are a convenient way to pay for these purchases and receive a 5% discount at the register, and a 5% upfront discount for Gold and Platinum meal plan holders.
  3. What is the difference between Dining Dollars and Cat's Cache?

  4. Can I add more Dining Dollars to my account?

Yes, with cash or check in the Dining/ID Office in Holloway Commons anytime (open M–F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm) or billed to the student's university account via our website or in the Dining/ID Office beginning in mid-July 2007 through Friday January 26, 2008.
  5. Can I cash in some meals on my meal plan for Dining Dollars?

    No.
  6. If I use all of my guest passes, can I buy more?

Yes. While guest passes included with the meal plan are valid per semester only, additional guest passes may be purchased and will carry over to second semester if unused. They will expire on the last day of meal service in May. Guest passes are nonrefundable.
  7. Can other people use my ID card?

No. Your UNH photo ID, including everything programmed onto your card, is not transferable. Guests may be brought into the dining hall by using a guest pass (Unlimited Meal Plans), an additional swipe of your ID card (Block Plans), Dining Dollars, Cat's Cache, or cash. The card owner must be present.
  8. What do I do if I lose my ID card?

Report a lost or stolen ID card immediately; only the account balance on your card for meals, Cat's Cache, and/or Dining Dollars at the time it is suspended can be protected. To suspend your card call 603.862.2273 during business hours or go to http://onlinecardoffice.com/unh/ to suspend your card on-line (while this web page is primarily used to make Cat's Cache deposits, it is also used to suspend activity on your card whether you use Cat's Cache or not). At this page under "Please Select an Option" choose "Suspend Activity on Cat's Cache Card" and follow the instructions to suspend all activity on your ID card until it can be replaced. If you locate your lost card bring it to the ID Office in Holloway Commons to have it reactivated. Replacement cards can be obtained at the ID Office for $10.
  9. Can I use cash for meals at the dining halls?

Yes. Our pay-at-the-door cash prices are $6.80 for breakfast, $9.20 for lunch or brunch and $11.50 for dinner.
  10. What if I have a food allergy or other nutrition concern?

Students with specific nutrition concerns or medically-restricted diets should meet with the registered dietitian and executive chef to review options for dining hall accommodations. While UNH Dining makes every effort to alert customers of items containing nuts on signage as well as in recipe ingredient listings on our website, it is the responsibility of customers with food allergies or other nutrition concerns to make the final judgment on whether or not to question the ingredients of a food item or to choose to eat the foods selected. For questions about ingredients, please ask a Dining staff member at any time.
