Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What are the differences among the Silver, Gold and Platinum Meal Plans?

    While these plans all offer unlimited access to the three dining halls from open to close, they differ in the number of meal passes and Dining Dollars that each plan includes.
    • The Silver Plan has 2 guest passes, 6 meal to go/meal exchange passes, and zero Dining Dollars.
    • The Gold Plan has 4 guest passes, 8 meal to go/meal exchange passes, and 225 Dining Dollars.
    • The Platinum plan has 4 guest passes, 10 meal to go/meal exchange passes, and 400 Dining Dollars.
  2. If students have unlimited access to the dining halls, why have Dining Dollars?

    When the dining halls are closed or when you just want to grab a quick sandwich or some coffee and pick up a few convenience items, you have the option of eating and shopping at any of our 8 retail establishments, many of which stay open late. Dining Dollars are a convenient way to pay for these purchases and receive a 10% discount at the register.
  3. What are the differences between Dining Dollars and Cat's Cache?

    THE DETAILS Dining Dollars carry from Fall to Spring semester. A remaining balance is non-refundable and expires at the end of the meal service in May Cat's Cache carries over from semester to semester and year to year and is fully refundable

  4. Can I add more Dining Dollars to my account?

    Yes, with cash or check in the Dining/ID Office in Holloway Commons, open M–F, 8:00am - 4:30pm. You can also make deposits with cash, credit or debit at any a Dining Deposit Center located throughout campus.  You can also bill your webcat account from mid-July (fall semester)  or mid-November (spring semester) until the second week of that semester.
  5. Can I cash in some meals on my meal plan for Dining Dollars?

    No.
  6. If I use all of my meal passes, can I buy more?

    Yes. While meal passes included with the meal plan are valid per semester only, additional meal passes may be purchased and will carry over to second semester if unused. They will expire on the last day of meal service in May. Meal passes are nonrefundable. Additional meal passes may be purchased in a bundle of 6 for $47 or any number of meal passes may be purchased at $8.50 each.
  7. Can other people use my ID card?

    No. Your UNH photo ID, including everything programmed onto your card, is not transferable. Guests may be brought into the dining hall by using a meal pass (Anytime Meal Plans), an additional swipe of your ID card (Block Plans), Dining Dollars, Cat's Cache, cash or debit. The card owner must be present.
  8. What do I do if I lose my ID card?

    Report a lost or stolen ID card immediately; only the account balance on your card for meals, Cat's Cache, and/or Dining Dollars at the time it is suspended can be protected. To suspend your card call (603) 862-2273 during business hours or go to http://blackboard.unh.edu to suspend your card on-line. At this page, log into your Blackboard account, click on the Cat's Cache tab and then choose Suspend Card. While this web page is primarily used to make Cat's Cache deposits, it is also used to suspend activity on your card whether you use Cat's Cache or not. You may also order a replacement ID card at http://unh.edu/dining/id-office/lost-idcard.html and have it ready for pick up. If you locate your lost card bring it to the ID Office in Holloway Commons to have it reactivated. Replacement cards can be obtained at the ID Office for $25.
  9. Can I use cash for meals at the dining halls?

    Yes. Our pay-at-the-door cash prices are $7.50 for breakfast, $10.50 for lunch or brunch and $14.00 for dinner.
  10. What if I have a food allergy or other nutrition concern?

    While UNH Dining Services makes every effort to alert customers of items containing nuts on signage as well as in recipe ingredient listings on our website, it is the responsibility of customers with food allergies or other nutrition concerns to make the final judgment on whether or not to question the ingredients of a food item or to choose to eat the foods selected. For questions about ingredients, please ask a Dining staff member at any time.
