John Freear joined the Whittemore School faculty in 1983, having being a visiting associate professor at the School in 1979. Prior to joining the Whittemore School faculty, he was on the faculty at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England. His research interests are in the history of accounting and in the informal venture capital market. He has published three books, several contributions to books and journal articles. He has taught finance and management accounting extensively in graduate, undergraduate, and executive programs in the U.S. and U. K.
