Training

The training process can be a rewarding experience for peer mentors.  Training is to help prepare you be successful as a peer mentor, as well as prepare you for future employment opportunities.  You play a key role in your employment success and should therefore make every effort to develop the characteristics like punctuality, initiative, responsibility, good judgment and integrity. 

Training sessions are to help you become knowledgeable about your strengths, while also providing you with knowledge about available campus resources, office policies and procedures and mentoring techniques. 

Training sessions are mandatory of all peer mentors and senior staff.  Training is a combination of workshops, and individualized self-paced instruction.  Subsequent training sessions will be held for those who wish to further develop their skills and receive additional compensation.
