Connect Peer Mentor and student

Peer mentors are a crucial and influential part of the success of the Connect program. There are many benefits to becoming a peer mentor with Connect. Some of those benefits are:

Learn New Skills: Peer mentors receive extensive training on how to best facilitate group discussion, ice breakers, games and study strategy activities. Through these interactions they learn skills in public speaking, academic coaching, time management, conflict resolution, professionalism and working with diverse populations of students.

Meet New People.  Peer mentors meet the incoming first year and transfer students, key UNH faculty and staff, as well as the parents and families.  They serve as UNH Ambassadors and assist in welcoming new students to campus.  Through these new connections, mentors have secured campus jobs, internships and key positions in student organizations.

Earn Money: Peer mentors earen a stipend per semester if they meet all the job requirements. We typically hire 15-20 students each academic year, but the actual number varies and is dependent on funding and the number of registered participants.
