Summer CONNECT

Summer CONNECT is an all expenses paid week long pre-college program offering incoming freshmen and transfer students with a jump start on college life. We combine residential living, recreational activities, special seminars on college life, and study strategies workshops in an effort to prepare students for the rigors of college life.

Research indicates First Year Students face a number of issues when transitioning from high school to college. For multicultural students, the transition is more difficult as they enter a less diverse environment at UNH. It is our hope that by having knowledge of the available campus resources, building social networks before classes begin and learning how to navigate the campus community, students will have a positive “jump start” on their college career. Providing peer mentors enables students to have firsthand knowledge about their courses, majors, what to expect during their first year and how to be successful at UNH.

During Summer Connect students can expect:

*Move into fall housing before the other students get to campus
*Meet UNH officials, faculty, staff, academic advisors, upper-class students and peer mentors
*Learn about essential academic and student support services
*Learn success strategies from upper class students of color
*Participate in a number of fun off campus activities, team-building exercise; and
*Make lots of friends before classes begin!

Connect Dates: August 23-28, 2009 - Click here for the schedule!
