April 20, 2011: Tea party celebrates spring
CI-UNH will hold its first-ever tea party on April 20th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. outside Murkland G14. April 20th is the beginning of Guyu (Grain rain in Chinese), which is the 6th solar term in the traditional Chinese calendar. People usually enjoy newly picked tea to celebrate the beginning of spring and get ready to plan the crops for the year in China. Students and faculties are welcome to sample some of the best tea from China with dessert. The following teas will be available:
1 Da Hong Pao (The best Ulong tea. The dark tea you typically find in a Chinese restaurant is usually of low grade.)
2 Tie Guanyin (a variation within the Ulong family and known for its unique flavor)
3 Jasmine Tea from Chengdu (Chengdu grows the best jasmine in China)
4 Maofeng picked before April 5 from Mount Emei in Sichuan (the best green tea)
5 Raw Pu’er
6 Raw Pu’er with Jasmine
7 Pu’er (undergone 8 years of microbial fermentation in bamboo barrel)
8 Yak butter brick tea (using milk)
