Financial Aid

Ph.D. Students in Composition Studies are eligible to apply for the following financial aid from the English Department:

Teaching Assistantship: Each semester, a Teaching Assistant teaches one section of English 401 (first-year composition) while taking two graduate courses. Advanced TAs in Composition Studies also have opportunities to teach Creative Nonfiction, Technical Writing and Persuasive Writing. A limited number of ESL teaching assistantships are also available to students with ESL teaching experience.

Tuition Scholarship: Full tuition waiver for the academic year. Full-time students in all programs are eligible to apply. A very limited number of half-tuition scholarships are also available.

To apply for departmental financial aid, students must complete an Application for Financial Aid and have submitted a completed application to the Graduate School by the deadline.  In addition, students wishing to apply for a teaching assistantship must also complete an Application for Teaching Assistantship by the deadline.

For those students attending part-time, the Graduate School provides a limited number of part-time tuition scholarships available on a competitive basis.
