Scholarships & Prizes for Undergraduates

Each year, the Communication Department recognizes outstanding graduating seniors through departmental awards.

The following awards are presented each spring to graduating seniors majoring in communication: 

The Distinguished Communication Scholarship Award is presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic work both within the communication major and in general. 

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a graduating senior who has provided outstanding service to the department and/or university. 

The Wilburn Sims Memorial Award (the department's highest honor) is presented to an outstanding graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in scholarship, service to her/his fellow students and the community, and exemplary character.

Nominations from students, faculty, and staff should be sent to Professor Mardi Kidwell, Department of Communication, by April 15 each year.
