What is a master plan?
The Campus Master Plan represents a strategic plan to guide the development and growth of the institution over the next
few decades. The plan documents a development strategy that establishes goals and objectives balancing the many space, land
use, landscape and infrastructure needs of the campus with a concern for responsible, sustainable and compatible growth.
The Plan looks not only at the core of campus, but all the outlying University properties in Durham, Madbury and Lee.
