Ungergraduate Program: Student Work

Students Without Borders

Civil and Environmental Engineering students are contributing locally and internationally through the UNH’s Students Without Borders (SWB) program. Current projects include improving the quality of drinking water, providing wastewater treatment and up grading an irrigation system in the village of Santisuk in Northern Thailand. Locally, SWB engineers are involved in the UNH Organic Garden Project and the Shoals Marine Lab - Composting Toilet Project.

Waste-Management Education and Research Consortium (WERC)

Environmental engineering majors Ryan Andersen of West Caldwell, N.J., Thomas Callo of Centerville, Mass., Maureen Lewis of Rindge and Patrick Smart of Farmington were part of a interdisciplinary team that developed technology to sequester CO2 from the atmosphere as their senior design project. Their efforts were rewarded in New Mexico where they won the Intel Environmental Innovation Award in the Waste-Management Education and Research Consortium contest.
