APPLEDORE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP
Nearly two-thirds of Appledore Engineering's staff of engineers are UNH
graduates. Impressed with their training, the Portsmouth company has
established two annual scholarships to support the UNH civil engineering
department. Recipients of these scholarships are civil engineering seniors
chosen in part for their excellent grades and community service, their interest
in either site planning and design or ocean and waterfront engineering, and
essays they've written on their goals in the field of civil engineering. |
HARVEY E. BERGERON SR. SCHOLARSHIP
The Harvey E. Bergeron Sr. Scholarship was established in memory of Harvey E.
Bergeron, Sr. through the generosity of his wife, Carmen T. Devno Bergeron, his
loving children, family and closest friends. This fund provides
scholarship support to students with a demonstrated financial need majoring in
Civil, Electrical & Computer, or Mechanical Engineering. Preference
will be given to students who have been accepted into UNH’s College of
Engineering and Physical Sciences to pursue a bachelor’s degree after
completing a two year engineering degree at a technical school. |
CIVIL ENGINEERING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Civil Engineering Achievement Award is made by the department to graduating
seniors in recognition of academic achievement in civil engineering coursework
and service to the civil engineering professional community. |
CIVIL ENGINEERING GRADUATE
ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The
Civil Engineering Student Achievement Award is made by the department to a
graduate student in recognition of outstanding scholarship. |
CIVIL
ENGINEERING SERVICE AWARD
The Civil Engineering Student Service Award is made by the department to an
undergraduate who has performed outstanding service to the civil engineering
professional community. |
CEPS
ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
The Alumni Scholarship Fund is generated through the annual giving of UNH
Alumni. Students are selected based on their academic performance and merit, as
well as demonstrating outstanding service by participating in community service
or outreach projects. Each department recommends a student to be considered for
this award. |
HAMEL CONSTRUCTION GROUP SCHOLARSHIP
The Hamel Construction Group Scholarship Fund was established through the
generosity of J. Edward Hamel ’61 CEO and founder of the Hamel Construction
Group, Elkridge, MD. This fund provides scholarship support to
undergraduate students enrolled in the Civil Engineering department. The
annual award will be split equally, with one-half going to a senior and
one-half going to a junior. |
LEROY F. JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP
The Leroy F. Johnson Scholarship was established by the bequest of Marion
Johnson in memory of her husband. Awards are made to students who are either
entering, or currently enrolled in civil engineering. Recipients must be
residents of Manchester, NH, and graduates of Manchester schools. |
NH PUBLIC WORKS AND MUNICIPAL
ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
The New Hampshire Public Works and Municipal Engineering Association
Scholarship goes to a deserving junior with a major in civil engineering. |
PSNH SCHOLARSHIP
PSNH established this program to provide renewable financial assistance and
summer internships for students (sophomores or juniors) in civil, electrical or
mechanical engineering. The award is based on academic standing as well as a
PSNH Scholarship essay and elligible majors may change from year to year. |
STEPHEN M. SAWYER MEMORIAL AWARD
The Stephen M. Sawyer Memorial Award is presented to a junior or senior Civil
Engineering major who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated
outstanding skills in applying computers or computer methods to civil
engineering problems. The award is named for the late Stephen M. Sawyer, B.S.
'91, M.S. '94. |
SFC ENGINEERING COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP
SFC Engineering Partnership, Inc. is a multi-disciplinary engineering and land
surveying firm headquartered in Manchester, NH. The firm and the employees are
proactive in the engineering community. With this in mind SFC has established a
scholarship program specifically for students enrolled in UNH's Civil
Engineering Program. |
LUTHER AND RUTH CROSS SHATTERLY
SCHOLARSHIP
Ruth Cross Shatterly, a 1941 graduate of the university, has established a
scholarship fund in memory of her father, George G. Cross, Sr., a former
electrical engineer. The scholarship is designed to provide financial
assistance to students in mechanical engineering or civil engineering. |
SOCIETY OF AMERICAN MILITARY
ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP, BOSTON POST
Students from environmental and civil engineering are encouraged to apply for
this scholarship by writing an essay. The students are interviewed by a Board
of Directors from the Society before a selection is made. |
WILLIAM WEAVER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
William H. Weaver graduated from UNH in 1963 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering
and went on to earn an M.S. in Sanitary Engineering from Harvard University in
1964. He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Construction Battalion. At the time of his death in 1967, he was Vice President
of the Weaver Brothers Construction Company in Concord, New Hampshire. His
friends and colleagues in the New Hampshire Good Roads Association established
a scholarship fund in his name. The scholarships are designed to aid Civil
Engineering students with an interest in highway-related fields. |
DOUGLAS R. WOODWARD SCHOLARSHIP
In 1934 Douglas R. Woodward earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
from the University. He enjoyed a career as a water resource engineer with the
U.S. Geological Survey, as well as a career in public office that included
serving in the NH House of Representatives from 1982 to 1986. Mr. Woodward
wishes to perpetuate the educational opportunities available to students, as he
too was helped by the College at a critical time in his life. |
MICHAEL BLANCHETTE MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
This memorial scholarship was established by the parents of former student
Michael S. Blanchette. It is given to an outstanding student in civil
engineering. |
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS OF NEW
HAMPSHIRE
SENH established this scholarship to help support students that have designated
structural engineering to be the focus of their civil engineering education.
The scholarship also acknowledges students for their scholastic and
extra-curricular achievements. |
