Biography 

Ray Cook received A.B. and B.S.C.E. degrees from the University of Illinois in 1981. He worked as a field engineer, weld inspector, and design engineer for CBI Industries in various locations in the southeastern U.S. and, later, as a design engineer for Daily & Associates Engineers of Champaign, Illinois.  He returned to graduate school at Cornell University for his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees receiving the latter in 1992. Since August of 1992, he has been a member of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Hampshire where he teaches courses in structural engineering design. He is a member of Sigma Delta Pi, Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, ASCE, and ACI.

Teaching Interests

Courses taught include Introduction to Civil Engineering Materials, Strength of Materials, Dynamics, Civil Engineering Materials, Timber Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Prestressed Concrete Design, Advanced Concrete Design, Steel Design, LRFD Bridge Design, and Matrix Structural Analysis.

Research Interests

High performance concrete, Steel Design, Concrete Design, and Bridge Construction and Monitoring.
