Determining Network Printer Connection (Static vs. DHCP)

To determine if a printer is connected to the UNH network with DHCP or a static IP address, view the IP address by doing the following:

  1. Click on Start - Printers and Faxes

  2. Right-click on the printer in question and select properties

  3. Click on the ports tab. You should be able to find the Printer by its name and find the port for which it is connected.

  4. Perform a nslookup in the command prompt example: (nslookup 132.177.212.132) you can determine which type of IP configuration it has.
