Service Outage Log File - December 2002

December 22, 2002 - Tabloid.unh.edu/Paradox.unh.edu Downtimes
The following services will also be down starting December 22nd, possibly for a few days, due to the move to 1 Leavitt Lane:

Tabloid.unh.edu (Usenet News service (news.unh.edu, mozz.unh.edu). This machine being unavailable only affects Usenet news

Paradox.unh.edu (Mailing lists (all @lists.unh.edu mailing lists), the Aliases web page http://aliases.unh.edu/ (though once CIS Unix systems are back up, mail delivery, including aliases, will still work), and the Listproc web page at http://listproc.unh.edu/

December 22, 2002 - Important Notice for All CISUNIX email users!
As part of the move of all information system servers from Kingsbury Hall to One Leavitt Lane over the December Break, the CISUNIX email server will be off line on Sunday, December 22. The time it takes to move the equipment should not be more than half a day. Users will want to plan their priorities around this system downtime. Every attempt will be made to minimize the downtime and impact to users.

For more information on the move of the data center, see www.unh.edu/cis/ecg/datacentermove.htm.

December 17, 8:05 PM Christensen Hall network outage
Christensen Hall experienced an interruption of network services at approximately 7:15pm. CIS was made aware of the problem and contacted the appropriate staff members at home. The system came back up at 7:45pm. The cause is unknown at this time and will be investigated.

December 16, 10:15 AM Outlook Exchange Update
At this time Outlook Exchange e-mail is experiencing difficulties related to the server. CIS Technical Services is aware of the problem and is currently working on restoring services. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please call the Call and Dispatch Center at 862-4242.

December 14, 2002 - Exchange/BR1/File & Print Server Unavailable
Several servers currently located Kingsbury Data Center are being relocated to the new Data Center at One Leavitt Lane prior to the major move scheduled for the holiday break (see http://www.unh.edu/cis/ecg/datacentermove.htm). These servers will be moved on Saturday, December 14th. The file and print server, BR1, and the Exchange servers are included in this early move and will not be accessible beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14th.
We apologize for the short notice, but we have just been able to confirm that the Data Center air conditioning units will be installed by the end of this week and were just able to secure confirmation from the movers that they are able to move our systems this weekend. By moving early, we are able to minimize the downtime. Every attempt will be made to have both the Exchange servers and BR1 back online as quickly as possible, hopefully by noon. We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Planned Work 12/10/02 6am
Configuration changes will be performed on a piece of network equipment.
This should not be service-affecting, but may cause a momentary outage or slowdown to Internet services for UNH, UNHM, CLL, CES, the USNH system offices, Jackson Labs, ORHS, and NEAT networks. A momentary outage or slowdown may occur for intercampus WAN services for UNH, PSC, KSC, and UNHM, as well as Internet services for Dartmouth, PSC, KSC, and GSDLN locations. This may affect Internet2 services for UNH. This will not affect Internet2 services for Dartmouth or UVM.
