Service Outage Log File - June 2002

UPDATE: Important Message from Exchange Admins
We have received updated information regarding the power outage scheduled for Kingsbury Hall tomorrow morning. While we are hopeful that the Exchange servers will be back on line by 9:30 a.m., the timeframe for full restoration of power has been extended to possibly 11:00 a.m., providing there are no unanticipated problems. The Exchange servers will be brought online as soon as we are able to do so. Again, thank you for your understanding.

Exchange Server/WILDCAT Domain Offline June 29th 5:30am to 9:30am
In support of the Murkland Hall renovation, power outages are scheduled for Kingsbury Hall on the morning of June 29th. To protect the exchange/domain servers, the systems will be shut down for the duration of the unstable period. The servers are scheduled to be offline from 5:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Also during this time the WILDCAT domain logins will be offline in all computing clusters. We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Tru64 UNIX Downtimes
DOWNTIME: Tru64 Unix systems will be unavailable while OS patches are installed according to the following approximate schedule:

  • Alberti: Tuesday June 25, 8am-10am
  • Hypatia: Wednesday June 26, 8am-10am
  • Franklin: Thursday June 27, 8am-10am

Other systems should remain available while one is down. CIS Unix WebMail and account management functions will be unavailable while Franklin is down.

Network Outages - June 21, 2002
UNH experienced intermittent network outages beginning at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2002. Network service was restored as of 5:00 p.m. the same day.

June 20, 2002 - Update Babcock Hall
Babcock hall will be without data service from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday June 20, 2002.

Network Outages - June 14, 2002 2pm-2:15pm and 2:50-3pm
Hardware/software issues were causing losses of connectivity for the periods noted above. Services were restored as of 3pm.

All Internet and Wide Area Network services were disrupted periodically during this times for UNH, UNHM, Colleges for Lifelong Learning, Cooperative Extension Services, Lee System Office, Jackson Labs, ORHS, and Neat Networks. Additionally, intercampus Wide Area Network service was disrupted among UNH, Plymouth State College, Keene State College, and UNHM. Internet service for Dartmouth, Plymouth, Keene, and GSDLN was affected. This did not affect voice and video services for any of the campuses/networks noted, nor Internet2 services for Dartmouth College and the University of Vermont. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for all your patience.

Exchange Server Downtime - June 13, 2002
Microsoft has issued a critical patch for Exchange. Exchange will be unavailable for a short time tomorrow morning, 6/13, at 6:00 a.m., when the patch will be applied. We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you need further assistance or clarification on this, please contact us as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your cooperation

UNH Network Outage - June 7, 2002
A module in a piece network hardware was not functioning correctly, and was rebooted to clear a connectivity issue. All Internet and Wide Area Network services were disrupted periodically during this time for UNH, UNH Manchester, the College for Lifelong Learning, Cooperative Extension Services, Lee System office, Jackson Labs, ORHS, and Neat Networks.

Additionally, Inter-campus Wide Area Network service was disrupted among UNH, Plymouth State College, Keene State College, and UNH Manchester. This affected Internet service for Dartmouth, Plymouth, Keene, and GSDLN. This did not affect voice and video services for any of the campuses/networks noted, nor Internet 2 services for Dartmouth College and the University of Vermont. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for all your patience.

UNH Network Outages - June 6, 2002
UNH experienced progressive network outages beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2002. Network service was fully restored by 10:30 a.m. the same day.

USNH Internet and WAN Reconfiguration - UPDATED
This work has been rescheduled from May 30 to June 6.

USNH Internet and WAN Reconfiguration - May 30, 2002
We will be reconfiguring USNH Internet and WAN routing hardware between the hours of 12:01am and 6:00am on Thursday, May 30. All Internet and Wide Area Network service will be disrupted periodically during this time. Areas affected include Dartmouth, Plymouth State College, Keene State College, the College for Lifelong Learning, Cooperative Extension Services, Lee System office, Jackson Labs, UNHManchester, UNHDurham, GSDLN and NEAT networks. This will not affect voice and video services for any of the campuses/networks noted. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for all your cooperation.
