April 30, 2003 12:00pm - Student On-Line Billing is Back On-line
The Telecom student on-line billing system is now available.

The Telecom student on-line billing system is currently unavailable. The system administrators are working on the server and will be bringing the system back on-line ASAP. Updates will be posted as they become available.

April 26th, 2003 5:30 AM -Phone lines residence halls are back on line.
The service outage to selected residence hall lines was corrected at 5:30 AM.
April 26th, 2003 3:30 AM -Selected phones lines down in some residence halls.
A service outage was reported with telephone lines in the Mini Dorms. Selected lines in a few other residence halls may be affected as well. UNH Telecom activated a response from AVAYA, the service company for the UNH telephone system. An AVAYA technician is expected to be on site by 5:00 AM, and service is expected to be restored promptly.
April 24th, 2003 3:30 pm -Webmail is Currently Stable.
The WebMail System Administrators have reported that access to the CISUnix WebMail system has been stabilized. If you experience problems please check this webpage for updates, or call the CIS Call and Dispatch Center at 862-4242.

The Hypatia server is being rebooted and will be available at

April 15, 2003 5:00pm - Dunlap/Myers Building Network Problems Resolved
Network connectivity has been restored at the
Myer's / Dunlap Centers. Telecom working with Verizon will be looking into the cause of the problem tonight. There is the potential that users in the
Myer's / Dunlap Centers may not have connectivity for a brief period
tonight around midnight.

The Dunlap/Myers Building appears to be experiencing network connection problems at this time. Telecom is aware of the problem and is working on resolving the problem. Kingsbury, NH Hall, Marine, and Paul Arts Buildings are still experiencing
network problems due to the short term power outage. Updates will be

April 10, 2003 1pm - Wide Area Power Outage
The Wide Area that includes the UNH Durham campus suffered a major short term power outage. This outage occurred at approximately 1pm and lasted less than a minute, affecting the entire UNH Durham campus as well as off-campus areas.
April 8, 2003 2:30PM - CISUNIX mail server reboot
The Hypatia server is being rebooted. It will be back up at approx 2:45PM.
April 8, 2003 10:00AM - Telephone Cable Problem in the Stoke and Health Services Area.
Telecommunications has isolated a telephone cable problem in the Stoke and Health Services area on campus, most likely caused by water damage. At this time Telecom Technicians are doing emergency splicing of the cable to maintain service. Some customers may experience a brief outage of telephone service (5 minutes) at some time during the day today. This message will be updated as more information becomes available. E-mail Storm of April 3, 2003 and Lessons Learned UPDATE 4/3/2003 5:26pm
On the morning of April 3 an Exchange Outlook e-mail was sent to a very large list of addressees. The large volume of e-mail was compounded by the fact that the sender elected to send the message to many groups, who's membership overlapped. The content was objectionable to most of the recipients. A few persons reacted by using “REPLY ALL” to express various sentiments regarding the content of the original e-mail. Others expressed ..... The large volume of e-mail generated by a mass e-mail message has been stabilized at this time.
CIS is currently investigating the cause, and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
