System Change - April 2002

Beginning January 1st, 2003, AppleTalk routing and filtering will no longer be available on the campus backbone network.

This change is precipitated by the needed replacement of aging hardware and software that must occur to implement the next generation campus backbone network. As a consequence, all current AppleTalk-based computing services that have cross-campus audience will need to transition to the new campus network environment to continue operation. CIS's decision to discontinue support for AppleTalk routing and filtering in the next generation campus backbone network should not be viewed as a reduction in support for the Apple Macintosh as a computing platform for the campus. CIS will continue to actively support the Macintosh for the foreseeable future. Please visit http://www.unh.edu/tech-services/appletalk for important information regarding this migration.
