System Change - March 2003

New CIS Unix system Pascal to replace Alberti
A new CIS Unix system "Pascal" (pascal.unh.edu) is now available for general use, including logins, mail services (POP/IMAP/SMTP), FTP, and the like. It is a Dell 2650 system with two 2.4GHz Xeon CPUs, and 2 Gig of RAM. It runs the Linux OS, based on the Red Hat 9 distribution. Please check it out (if you are so inclined); let me know if you have any questions, problems, or suggestions.

Pascal is replacing Alberti, our 6-year old DEC AlphaServer 4100. We are planning on taking Alberti out of service on Monday, July 21. This should be almost totally unnoticeable to almost all users. Mail sent to "username@alberti.unh.edu" (should there be any) will continue to be delivered normally for the forseeable future.

New CISUNIX/Exchange SPAM Filtering
The new CISUNIX/Exchange SPAM filters are available.

The new e-mail spam filter system was put in place March 27th. Listed below are two URLs explaining the new spam filters for Exchange and CISUNIX e-mail systems and how to use them. These URLs may also be found on the UNH E-mail web page (http://www.email.unh.edu).
