Planned Systems Downtime for Data Center Move
The Kingsbury Data Center, home to major information systems and applications serving UNH and the University System, is scheduled to be moved to the newly renovated site at One Leavitt Lane. The new site, on the west edge of the UNH campus, across from Human Resources, will accommodate the increased need for space and security, along with proximity to the several support units that moved to the same building in May of this year. The move is also being driven by the need to vacate Kingsbury Hall in advance of the renovations scheduled to begin next year.
A move of this magnitude requires significant planning and tight scheduling. A full week of system downtime is being built into the schedule. While it may require less time, it is prudent to plan on up to a week should circumstances require.
This notice is intended to provide general notification to the USNH campuses. CIS is working closely with each of the offices listed to mitigate the effects of this move.
To accommodate the business cycles of the several major application users, and to provide as little disruption to services as possible, the move has been divided into two stages:

STAGE ONE: October 19-26 Completed.
Thank you!

STAGE TWO: Holiday Break, Dec. 20 – Jan. 2 The second and final stage of the UNH/USNH data center move is scheduled to occur December 20 to January 1. Staff members from CIS will be working closely with hardware vendors to relocate the remaining systems housed in Kingsbury Hall to the new data center at One Leavitt Lane. The following systems will be going off line early Friday morning, December 20:
· Banner Finance (see also Banner User's FYI page) · Management Reporting (Webi, or Web Intelligence) · Banner HR (Project FRESH) · Grants management (Info Ed) · Time clock users (Kronos)
· CISUNIX email (Sunday, December 22 only!)
:Services NOT Impacted during this week*** · Exchange (Outlook) and VMS Email · CUFS & HUMS (old finance system, current payroll and HR system) · The Banner SIS system (including WebCat) · Blackboard Course Management Software · Grading in the Registrar’s Office · Alumni Services · Network printing
This move was scheduled to coincide with the holiday break when the campuses are closed. However, the move and setup of equipment may extend beyond the holiday break to include Monday and Tuesday, December 30 & 31. While it is possible that some or all of the systems may be restored to normal service by then, it cannot be assured. Users are advised to have alternative work strategies for those two work days.
Information regarding the data center move is located at www.unh.edu/cis/ecg/datacentermove.htm. There will be a daily progress report posted here during the move. Users who want to assess predicted system availability for December 30 and 31 may log in for the most current information.
We commit to minimizing the downtime necessary to move your systems; we will have them up and running just as soon as possible.
