Director of the Center for International Education Dr. Claire Malarte-Feldman was born in France and received a B.A. in German and a Masters in English at the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, before moving to the USA in 1978. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis, she joined the faculty at the University of New Hampshire in 1984. She is Professor of French in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures. She supports international programs at UNH by offering courses and/or giving lectures in the Honors, the Discovery and the European Cultural Studies programs. Her research interests lie in the field of French children’s literature. Her long time memberships in the International Committee of the Children’s Literature Association and in the International Research Society of Children’s Literature have trained her, through travels and books, to keep looking abroad and outward, and to work at building bridges across borders and between citizens of the world. |

Assistant Director Sheila McCurdy came to the Center for International Education in 1983, and has served as assistant director since 1990. She holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of New Hampshire, and continues to study French informally. She assists the director with program direction and finance, oversees center operations, serves as campus advisor for the Student Fulbright and National Security Education Program scholarship competitions, publishes the CIE Newsletter, and manages Center alumni relations and information services. |

Coordinator of Student Programs Catherine D’Auteuil is originally from the United Kingdom and graduated from King Alfred’s College, Winchester, England with a B.A. in American Studies and English. She traveled to the University of Southern Maine in 1996 where she participated in an exchange program. She moved to the U.S. in 2000 to pursue a Masters degree in Higher Education (specializing in International Education) at the University of Maine and went on to work in the Office of International Programs as the Study Abroad Advisor. Most recently she was the Assistant Director of International Student Life at the University of Georgia. |

Assistant Coordinator for Study Abroad Jeff Sherman graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a B.A. in International Affairs focusing on Central/Eastern Europe and Security Studies. His semester abroad experience in Budapest, Hungary led Jeff to helping other students change their point of view through study abroad. Working for the Council on International Educational Exchange in New York, he had the opportunity to serve as the Program Coordinator for a study abroad program in Prague, the Czech Republic. He has traveled extensively in the Balkans, Turkey, Russia, and throughout Western, Central and Eastern Europe. |

Center and International Affairs Program Assistant Mindy McMahon works with students interested in the international affairs dual major and coordinates Center activities. Mindy has assisted abroad with UNH managed programs in Budapest, Hungary and Cambridge, England, and has lived and worked in Turkey and Austria. She has served as faculty for the Humanities Program. She has a Master of Arts from UNH in music history and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas with a choral major and harp minor. She is a professional mezzo-soprano and harpist and has her own web site at www.sirenssong.org. |

Information Support Assistant Wen Houle was born in Taiwan, and lived in Montreal, Canada before settling in New England. She has a B.S. in Mathematics and Biology from Boston College and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire. She has programming and analysis experience in private industry. Prior to coming to the CIE, she worked for the Elliott Alumni Center and the University Honors Program at UNH. |

Study Abroad Assistant Gwyneth Dahler, a Navy brat, started traveling when she was sixteen, going on cultural trips to Viet Nam, Bolivia, Mexico, Colombia, the UK, and the Philippines. She attended Bethel College in Indiana, where her international experiences included an internship in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, a semester in New Zealand, and a trip to Northern Ireland. After college, she returned to New Zealand to work for a year, which led to a position as Program Coordinator for a new Pacific Rim Study Abroad program provided by her alma mater. She came to the CIE in September 2006, and is thoroughly enjoying UNH and New England. |
