Harold Méndez (Kinesiology/ International Affairs ’96) returns to UNH February 14-15 to engage students campus-wide on his successful career as a sports agent and his current focus on improving educational prospects for ballplayers from the Dominican Republic (including starting his own academic sports academy, as an alternative to the sports ‘factories’ prevalent there) and around the world.

Méndez has served as an advisor and consultant to numerous world class sporting events, professional sports teams, sports management firms and entertainment firms around the world including Nike, Latino Sports & Entertainment Marketing (formerly Latino Sports Marketing, LLC), and Host Communications. His experience includes representing athletes in MLB, NBA and professional soccer in Europe. Méndez has focused his practice on the growing Latino presence in sports. As founder and president of ESTRELLA Management International, Méndez represents and advises Latino sports and entertainment personalities in both on and off the field endeavors. Bringing his extensive experience in cross cultural marketing and representation, he is equally proud of the opportunity he has to help his clients build a strong foundation for life outside of and after sports. Méndez sits on the Board of the Philadelphia Latino Media Alliance, and is a senior advisor to Sports Perspectives International. In addition to his undergraduate degree from UNH (where he restarted the Latino student organization and briefly played varsity baseball), Méndez holds a Juris Doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

About Happy Returns: With support from a Class of 1954 Academic Enrichment Fund, CIE has established the Happy Returns program to bring International Affairs alumni from across the colleges across UNH back to campus to discuss their work, their academic preparation, and their career paths with the University community. Mr. Mendéz's visit is co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, MOSAICO (Latino/a student organization), and the CONNECT program.
