Chem 403 | For ANY of the course sections of Chem 403 (Bauer or Winans instructors), you will need: •access to a textbook (your own or shared, physical or electronic, 6th Ed or earlier if you don’t care about page number mismatches). The bookstores will have the package of Silberberg “Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change”, looseleaf, ISBN 9780077961060, which includes 2-year ConnectPLUS computer homework and ebook. Any reference to pages or problems will be from the 6th edition. •If you don’t get this package, an alternate option is to obtain your own or shared, physical or electronic, 6th edition or earlier book AND SEPARATELY your own personal account for Connect (no ebook) or ConnectPLUS (with ebook). CONNECT can be obtained directly from McGraw-Hill and linked to the Chem 403 course. If you have a credit card, this is the cheapest option. If you are using financial aid and have to purchase through bookstore, they will have some CONNECT access products on the shelf (marked up). •Unless you are repeating the course in an NL section, you will need for lab the “Prelabs for General Chemistry”, 24 months [available directly through www.cengage.com/OWL/LabSkills]. We suggest you wait for further instructions on obtaining this product. Other routine lab materials will be needed, and further instructions will be given the first week of classes for those items (some available through Chemistry Stockroom). Lab does not start til week 2. • FOR PROFESSOR BAUER’S SECTIONS ONLY (sections 1-8, 16-24, 26, NL1, NL3] you will need your own i-clicker personal response device. This is a “remote” used in many campus classes to sample student thinking and ideas and display the results in class immediately. THIS IS A NEW SYSTEM. You purchase the clicker itself and that’s all you need forever. People who own the old e-instruction clickers can get a partial rebate at the bookstores. |
