Program Objectives

The chemical engineering program seeks to provide an environment that enables students to pursue their goals in an innovative program with a diversity of offerings that is rigorous and challenging.

The program has the following major educational objectives with the expectation that our graduates will have successful careers in the many diverse areas of chemical engineering profession. We expect most of our graduates to

1. Depth. Have an understanding of the fundamental knowledge prerequisite for the practice of, or for advanced study in chemical engineering, including its scientific principles, analysis, and design.

2. Breadth. Have a broad education, including knowledge of important current issues in engineering with emphasis on the many diverse areas in chemical engineering, necessary for productive careers in the public or private sectors, or for the pursuit of graduate education.

3. Professionalism. Develop skills for clear communication and responsible teamwork, professional attitude and ethics, so that they are prepared for the complex modern work environment and for lifelong learning.
