The Black Alumni Reunion is an important as it will connect our Black, Hispanic, African-American, Latino, African, West Indian, Caribbean, and African descended alumni to the University of New Hampshire, their classmates, and students. Organized by the Black Student Union, Black Alumni Reunion Weekend is the signature event celebrating Black History Month and the heritage and contribution of Black students at the University of New Hampshire.

In addition to creating a successful event that promotes diversity, the ultimate vision of our organization is to establish a relationship with Black alumni. We believe that alumni support will encourage current Black students to continue their academic careers here at UNH and prospective black students to engage in higher education at UNH. In addition, your support will provide students with an opportunity to make invaluable connections. Lastly, it would be a clear message to the campus community that the black community, past and present, continues to and will continue to support each other. We believe that these will be a few benefits of our event. Specifically, in addition to monetary support, we would appreciate it if you would help us coordinate the Black Alumni Reunion which is to take place on Saturday April 5, 2008 from 10AM-4PM during Family Fun Day. There will be an alumni mixer from 10AM-12PM where you will be able to connect and reconnect with current students, faculty, staff and other alumni. Then from 12PM-2PM there will be an alumni luncheon in your honor during which a few of your fellow peers will be presented with alumni awards. Afterwards, we encourage you to take part in the rest of the Black Family Weekend Activities such as our annual BSU fashion show.

As an alumni, we would appreciate your help with this event to make is an optimum success. In terms of programming, all we need are the names and contacts (email addresses and mailing addresses if possible) of your fellow alumni and we will send them information. In addition, if you know of anyone who would be interested in supporting this event financially please let us know. In addition to your personal contribution, this may be a great opportunity for your corporation to engage in some diversity work by providing a matching in-kind donation, sponsorship, or monetary donation. Also, we encourage you to nominate your fellow alums for awards by going to our website www.unh.edu/bsu/awards. We also encourage you to register for your alumni reunion at www.unh.edu/bsu/alumnireunion. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns or would like more information please feel free to contact Bessem Sarah Bate, by email at bsh4@unh.edu or browse our website www.unh.edu/bsu. The Black Student Union hopes that you will join us in actualizing the University’s laudatory goals concerning diversity and support us in our endeavors.
