The Outreach Program
The Outreach Program has actively fostered visual arts education in elementary and secondary schools since 1976. Through guided tours of exhibitions, children of all ages benefit from an exposure to the diversity of art movements and styles. The Lending Library offers educators an opportunity to enrich their curriculum with art slide packets and videos that may be borrowed free of charge.
The Lending Library
The Lending Library is a valuable resource for educators interested in supplementing their teaching with slides and videos that mirror their classroom curriculum. Serving educators throughout northern New England, the Library houses over 400 slide packets and videos. Broadly organized into the themes of Individual Artists, American Art, Art Movements and Styles, Subject Matter, and Media, these materials are available for use free of charge. A three-week loan period provides ample opportunity for educators to augment their classes with an in-depth course of study in the visual arts.
A complete list of slide packets and videos from the Lending Library is available. Contact Catherine A. Mazur, Education and Publicity Coordinator.

Guided Tours
From pre-school to post graduate, classes with varied interests benefit from free guided exhibition tours given by The Art Gallery's core of trained volunteers. Educators or event organizers are also welcome to lead their class or program attendees through the museum independently.
As part of The Art Gallery's commitment to supporting access to the visual arts for all school children, reimbursement for one-half of the total cost of the school bus fee is available. For a copy of the Group Tour Bus Reimbursement Form, click here.
To schedule a guided tour please submit your request using The Art Gallery Tour Reservation Form located here. For any questions, or to discuss any special requests, contact Catherine A. Mazur catherine.mazur@unh.edu, Education and Publicity Coordinator.
Volunteer Opportunities
Does spending several hours a week in an energetic environment surrounded by great art and interesting people appeal to you? Then please consider becoming a volunteer for The Art Gallery.
Our volunteers serve as knowledgeable teachers (docents) who lead tours of our exhibitions. In addition, they serve as Ambassadors for our public programs, providing visitors with information about The Art Gallery and our exhibitions. Volunteers help prepare our opening receptions and organize fund raising events, assist the museum staff with general office duties, and work on countless other tasks that are essential to the successful operation of The Art Gallery. A number of activities, such as occasional “field trips” to other art museums and galleries and an annual picnic, are offered especially for our volunteers.
Volunteers who can devote at least two hours a week are always needed. A schedule to fit each individual's needs may usually be arranged. For those interested in leading exhibition tours (primarily with visiting school children), free training is offered in a fun, supportive group setting each month. No previous training or experience is required—only a desire to learn and to make everyone's visit to The Art Gallery an inspiring and memorable experience.

Our exhibitions and programs are supported in part by the Friends of The Art Gallery.
