CPT Thompson enlisted into the Army in 1999 joining BTRY C 1st Battalion 172nd Field Artillery Regiment. He has served in the Field Artillery for 14 years with two overseas deployments. Additionally, CPT Thompson was hired as a full time member of the New Hampshire National Guard in 2004. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in July of 2004.

CPT Thompson's duty assignments include Fire Direction Officer, BTRY B 2nd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment; Platoon Leader, BTRY B 2nd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment; Operations Officer, Joint Force Head Quarters Forward 34, Iraq; Operations Officer, BTRY A 3rd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment, Commander, BTRY A 3rd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment; Commander, Company A Task Force 3rd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment, Kuwait/Iraq; Battalion Operations Officer, 3rd BN 197th Field Artillery Regiment.

CPT Thompson's awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award); Army Achievement Medal (5th Award); Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (3rd Award); National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal with three campaign stars; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and 10 year service device; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award); and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

CPT Thompson has a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a Minor in Anthropology and a Master of Business Administration. He has completed the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course; Field Artillery Captain's Career Course; Company Level Pre-Command Course; and is currently enrolled in ILE Command and General Staff College.

He and his wife Cheyanne reside in Nottingham, NH and have two children Ethan and Haven.
