Major Joshua U. Stringer is the Professor of Military Science (PMS) at the University of New Hampshire. He is an Engineer Officer with 17 years of military experience. Major Stringer served three years as an enlisted combat engineer and was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School in 1997. He graduated from Flagler College with a BA in Secondary Education, Social Science; and the University of Missouri, Saint Louis with a MA in Public Policy Administration.


Previous assignments & duty positions include: Vehicle Operator, B/44th Engineer Battalion, Republic of Korea; Squad Member, B/317th Engineer Battalion, Fort Benning, GA; Platoon Leader, A/4th Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, CO; Company Executive Officer, A/52nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, CO; Company Commander, 502nd Engineer Company (Multi-Role Bridge), Hanau, Germany; Task Force S3 (Operations Officer), Task Force Mustang, Fort Bliss, TX (AC/RC); Brigade S3 (Operations Officer), 555th Engineer Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.


Major Stringer's military education includes: One Station Unit Training (OSUT) with B/35th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Officer Basic Course (OBC), Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Captain's Career Course (CCC), Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Command & General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS.


Major Stringer has deployed to Bosnia as an Area Support Team Commander in 2002, and three times to Iraq; in 2003 as a Battalion Plans Officer, in 2004 as a Company Commander, & in 2008 as a Brigade Plans Officer.


His awards include the Bronze Order of the DeFleury Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Bronze German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.


Major Stringer is married to Andrea Stringer (17 years), and has two children, Tim (14), and Madison (12).
