COLONEL (RET) PIERRE D. BOY, U.S. ARMY

Colonel Pierre Boy was raised in Berlin, N.H. and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1939 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in July 1939, he served with the 13th Infantry Regiment, Fort Devens, Massachusetts. During World War II he served with the 33rd Infantry Regiment, Panama and Trinidad, British West Indies and also with Special Troops of the 12th Army Group in Europe.

After the war, Colonel Boy served in many different assignments including: Logistics Staff Officer, Department of the Army; Advisor with SHAPE Training Mission to the Royal Netherlands Army; Infantry Battalion Commander, 8th Infantry Regiment, Fourth Infantry Division Europe; Senior Army Advisor for USAR, New York State; Detachment Commander for US Military Training Mission, Saudi Arabia; Brigade Commander, 1st Brigade, US Army Training Center, Fort Ord, California; AC/S G-3, Fort Ord, California; Deputy Comptroller, Headquarters US Army Pacific, Hawaii.

During his last four years of active military service, from August 1965 until May 1969, he served as the Professor of Military Science at UNH. During his period of service as the PMS his expert guidance and counsel earned him the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Legion of Merit.

After his retirement, from 1969-1973, he served as Director of Alumni Affairs. During his tenure at Alumni Affairs, the number of contributing alumni increased by more than 1,000 with annual contributions to the alumni fund jumping from $115, 000 to $216,000. Colonel Boy is the recipient of the Alumni Meritorious Service Award and is a member of the prestigious UNH 100 Club Hall of Fame.

His list of military awards include the Legion of merit 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, French Croix de Guerre with Star, Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm.
