SSG Kelsall entered the U.S. Army in January of 2002, attending One Station Unit Training (OSUT) with A Company 35th Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Upon completion of OSUT he was assigned to C Company 577th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO as a boat operator for the vehicle operations section which supported the Advanced Individual Training of 21C (Bridge Crewmember).


During his time assigned to the 577th he helped train nearly all Bridge Crewmembers between May 2002 and June 2005, providing training support in the planning, preparation and execution of all types of military bridging operations on and off of the water.


In June of 2005 SSG Kelsall reclassified from 21C (Bridge Crewmember) to 21Y (Geospatial Analyst) at Fort Belvoir, VA. Upon successful completion of the Basic Topographic Analyst's Course (BTAC) he was assigned to B Company, Division Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Hood, TX. He was deployed twice with the 4ID to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-06 and 07-09. During these deployments he helped in the creation and dissemination of over four thousand Topographic (map) Products in support of the Multi-National Division-Baghdad and subordinate units.


In June of 2009 he was assigned to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Katterbach, Germany as the Geospatial Information & Services (GI&S) Section NCOIC. He helped the unit prepare for deployment before moving returning to the states in August of 2009 on compassionate reassignment to UNH Army ROTC where he currently works as a Military Skills Instructor (MSI) particularly for Land Navigation and Map Reading.


SSG Kelsall is a native of Dover, NH and has been married to Susannah Evangeline Monett of Tamuning, Guam for seven years. They have four children together with ages ranging from six years old to new-born.


His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (two awards); Army Achievement Medal (two awards); Army Good Conduct Medal (two awards); National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal (two awards); Global War on Terror Service Medal; Army Meritorious Unit Citation; Driver Mechanic Badge with Driver-W & Operator-S.


SSG Kelsall currently serves as the Assistant Operations and Training NCO at the University of New Hampshire Army ROTC.
