Tour #1 - Man of LaMancha - Merrill Auditorium, Portland, ME
Tour #1 – Saturday, March 22, 2014
Man of La Mancha - Merrill Auditorium, Portland, ME
Departure: Durham 9:30 AM and Portsmouth 10:00 AM
MAN OF LA MANCHA is a remarkable show and one of the great theater successes of our time. This is a play-within-a-play, based on Cervantes’ “Don Quixote.” Here we have a poignant story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. The songs - Dulcinea, The Impossible Dream, I Really Like Him and Little Bird remain in our thoughts and in our soul well after we leave the theater. His dream is Everyman’s dream. His dueling with windmills is Everyman’s great adventure. Somehow, the footlights disappear, time is telescoped and the Man of La Mancha speaks for humankind.
This Broadway National Tour is an all new production complete with its Tony Award winning score.
In order to get better seats and to keep costs down, we will have lunch on our own at the Maine Mall prior to the show. Maps will be provided so that you may decide ahead of time whether to have a quiet sit down lunch at one of the restaurants, such as Ruby Tuesdays or the Hometown Buffet, or to eat on-the-run at the food court and take some of the time to shop. We will be at the Mall from approximately 11 AM until we board the bus at 1PM.
The show including intermission is approximately 3 hours in length.
Handicap Accessibility – MAINE MALL – fully accessible MERRILL AUDITORIUM – a walk around corner from bus drop-off to door of auditorium and then from door to seats. There are 5-6 half-steps to get to our seats with no hand rails. Wheel chairs can get from bus to steps.
The cost is $98.00 per person, which includes transportation, “terrace” theater tickets, snack, taxes and gratuities (including the bus driver).
The approximate time of return: Portsmouth 6:30 PM and Durham 7:00 PM
