Membership in the ARA is open to all, whether fully retired or not. Over 280 members represent 40 cities & towns in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

The annual membership fee of $50 covers all classes, programs, and groups (excluding cultural tours).  Programs are held in the New Hampshire/Maine Seacoast area and are organized into four-week terms from September to June.  First time members who join after January 1 will be offered a reduced membership fee.

Membership Privileges

First Week Free

Prospective members may attend the first week of programs in September or in February without charge.  Members are encouraged to bring friends to sample the wide variety of programs and events.  Subsequent to the “First Week Free” opportunity, members are allowed to bring guests to programs and events for a fee of $2 per guest.  Local guests may attend only one program session in each term.

UNH Library Privileges

Members of ARA can take advantage of the University of New Hampshire libraries and their more than one million books, periodicals, and recordings.  The heart of the system, including special interest libraries, is the Dimond Library just behind Thompson Hall on the UNH campus.  To receive a library card, show your current membership badge at the Main Desk.  The card is valid for the current membership year.
