Meng Yan, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Accounting
Meng joined the Whittemore School in the fall of 2005. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of International Business and Economics (Beijing), and did her doctoral work at Boston University. Prior to joining the academia, she spent two years in the international book trading business.
Meng’s research interests include earnings management,
market pricing of accounting information, as well as auditor independence.
Her current projects include examining how managers’ discretion over the
earnings management alternatives impacts their tradeoff decisions, the
horizon problem in managing R&D investment, and potential solution
to the “backing-out” problem that plagues the current earnings management
literature.
Originally from China, Meng enjoys playing tennis
and poker games.
