BIOGRAPHY





STEFANIE TATE, PH.D.

Stefanie joined the Whittemore School in fall of 2001.  She did her doctoral work at Michigan State University, where she taught courses in Auditing and Principles of Accounting.  She worked as an auditor in KPMG Peat Marwick’s Washington, DC, Public Services practice for six years after earning her Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wake Forest University.

Stefanie’s current research interests include audit quality, corporate governance, and internal control structures, and she has a specific interest in issues related to non-profit organizations.  Her current projects include an examination of differences in brand name and non-brand name auditors’ assessments, and the effects of different types of auditors on non-profit organizations’ contribution revenue.

Education:  Ph.D. (Accounting), Michigan State University, 2001;  B.S. (Accounting), Wake Forest University, 1990.
