FRED R. KAEN
Professor of Finance and Co-Director of the International
Private Enterprise Center
Fred R. Kaen received his Ph.D. degree in finance and international business from the University of Michigan in 1972, his M.B.A. from Michigan in 1967 and his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University in 1963. Since 1973, he has been at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire where he is a Professor of Finance and Co-director of the International Private Enterprise Center. He teaches corporate finance, corporate governance and international financial management in the School’s undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA programs. Prior to coming to UNH, Dr. Kaen was a financial analyst with Ford Motor Company and taught at Northeastern University.
Kaen’s research focuses on international finance, corporate governance and corporate finance. He has presented his research at universities and conferences in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Kaen has published extensively in leading academic journals including The American Economic Review, The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Finance, The Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and The Journal of Monetary Economics. He has a number of books with the latest (2002) being A Blueprint For Corporate Governance: Strategy, Accountability And The Preservation Of Shareholder Wealth
Kaen has been a visiting professor at the University of Oregon, The Norwegian School of Economics and Business (Bergen), the Norwegian School of Management (Oslo), the University of Hamburg and the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration.
