Current Initiatives
Below is a list of the major initiatives of the first year. Click on each for more information.
Faculty Fellows - Student Outcomes Assessments Committee
The Provost and Deans appointed a group of Faculty Fellows in the fall of 2001 to help build UNH's institutional commitment to student outcomes assessment. Among the major efforts of this committee included amassing a university-wide inventory of assessment activities, documenting exemplary cases of student outcomes assessment activities, organizing a student outcomes assessment conference, recruiting applicants for an assessment-related grant competition, and creating an institutional electronic portfolio as part of a NEASC pilot project.
SOA Case Studies
Fellows documented exemplary student outcomes assessment activities from across the university. An initial library of case studies has been published on the UNH Institutional Portfolio web site. More case studies are to follow.
GRAD 965
Faculty and graduate students have the opportunity to enroll in a 2-credit course on classroom assessment techniques. The Preparing Future Faculty program at UNH sponsors the course.
Student Affairs Research & Assessment Center (SARAC)
Through collaboration, SARAC staff conduct systematic research and assessment projects that expand the knowledge base about student progress and development, improve student programs and services, assess organization success, and determine whether the educational, career, and personal goals of students are effectively being met.
Assessments Grant Competition
In the spring of 2002, the University's Undesignated Gifts fund focused on initiatives that enhanced the assessment of student learning outcomes within academic programs at UNH. A total of approximately $50,000 was dispersed to successful applicants.
