UNH-Alternative Break Challenge is sending EIGHTEEN STUDENT TRIPS all over the country this coming spring break. The week will be spent doing a number of volunteer projects including building houses for Habitat for Humanity, maintaining trails, working at soup kitchens, and helping out in inner-city school systems…activities will vary depending on the individual trip.
Why participate? You'll have a blast. You'll push yourself. You'll be helping less fortunate people through your volunteering efforts. You will make some great friendships with new people. And most of all, you'll learn stuff about yourself during the course of the week that no classes have taught you! Trips this year will include North Fort Myers, Florida, Cumberland Island, Georgia, Kansas City, Missouri, and several others! Each person will be required to fundraise this year, and we’ll provide the fundraising opportunities for you. Your motivations will decide the cost. We will do our best to keep the final cost for everyone under $225. Each trip will have nine students who travel by van to their destinations. Most trips include housing in community centers or churches, while the trail maintenance trips will probably be staying in cabins or tents. Meals are included—they’ll either be donated or your group will cook their own. When you fill out the attached application, you are giving the organization an idea of who you are. You are telling us why you want to join the fun. Applications are read and evaluated by UNH-ABC executives. IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET YOUR APPLICATIONS IN EARLY because the decisions are made on a first come first serve basis. Please by creative and honest when filling the application out. EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY, no matter how much experience you have. One last thing, use of alcohol and/or drugs is not allowed on UNH-ABC trips, whether you are over 21 or not. Violation of this policy will be brought to the UNH judiciary system. VERY IMPORTANT: Have your application turned in no later than Tuesday, January 25th 2008 at 6:00 pm. You can slide it under the door in room 12B (our office) in the basement of the MUB. **Trip leader applications are due by December 1st Copyright © 2002, FRA Enterprises, LTD.
