A bunch of ABC's trips are arranged through Habitat for
Humanity. On these trips, volunteers work on homes in various stages of
completion, helping out with erecting frames, dry-walling, roofing, and
various other projects. Anyone can help, regardless of experience or
ability! Usually volunteers work side-by-side with the families who
will eventually live in these homes, and oftentimes there are volunteer
groups from other schools in the area.
In addition to Habitat sites, ABC has a variety of other contacts
at different sites that we typically contribute to each year. There will be trips to community centers,
homeless shelters, and
other organizations in communities in need. About half of these trips will be traveling
to Waveland, Mississippi, which is where Hurricane Katrina struck. More trips are in the works.
The list below will be updated as new trips are added
and more information comes in. At the trips meeting in late January, trip
leaders will talk in more detail about what each group will do, where
they will stay, and what attractions are nearby. Stay tuned!
