Athletics Advisory Committee -
Purpose and Organization

 

PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE: To act in an advisory role to the President of the University in all matters pertaining to intercollegiate athletics

ORGANIZATION OF THE AAC: The NCAA Constitution, Article 6.1.2.1, requires that "administration and/or faculty members constitute at least a majority" of any such committee. Accordingly:

  1. The committee shall consist of the following voting members, all of whom are appointed by the President:
    1. The NCAA Faculty Representative, who will chair the AAC
    2. Five full-time faculty members. Four will be recommended by the AAC Chair and one will be recommended by the Faculty Senate.
    3. Vice Provost/Chief Diversity Officer or a senior-level administrator
    4. A Dean or Associate Dean of a UNH school or college
    5. The Director of Affirmative Action
    6. Two full-time Operating Staff or PATs, recommended by the AAC Chair.
    7. Two students recommended by the Student Body President.
    8. One male and one female student athlete recommended by the Student Athlete Advisory Council.
  2. The Director of Athletics will be a non-voting, ex-officio member.
  3. The Chair, in consultation with the Director of Athletics, may appoint subcommittees as necessary. The subcommittees may include non-committee members, but at least one AAC member must be on any subcommittee and subcommittee reports must be directed to the AAC for approval.
  4. The AAC chair may invite consultants to AAC meetings, but they should appear in the agenda distributed in advance of any meeting.
