Minutes of January 25, 2005

Reports:

 

Carrie Doyle passed out a short paper that outlined the new NCAA APR program. She will provide the AAC with more details later in the spring.

 

The remainder of the meeting focused on preparations for the NCAA certification self-study in 2005-06. The Committee discussed the materials that Steve H had circulated, specifically the idea of breaking into small groups to begin planning for the self-study. The groups would each take one of the areas of the self-study. The AAC members agreed to work as follows:

 

Governance and Commitment to Rules Compliance

T. Winters, J. McCoy, S. Hardy (also include the internal “Compliance Committee)

 

Academic Integrity

T. Tagliaferro, M. Wrighton, M. Hoskin, C. Hall, Sam Shore (also ask Jim Wolf, Joanne Maldari and the internal Academic Advisers committee)

 

Equity and Student-Athlete Welfare

H. Barber, Peter Lane, J. Albee, P. Gormley, plus other members of the Equity subcommittee

Members agreed to prepare the following for the February 2005 meeting:

The Guidelines require broad-based participation in the development of the self-study and the plans for improvement. To organize this effort, each subcommittee will

determine a candidate to serve as Chair of one of the area committees:

  • Governance and Commitment to Rules Compliance
  • Academic Integrity
  • Equity and Student-Athlete Welfare
