Athletic Advisory Committee
Present: Heather Barber, Terri Winters, Steve Hardy, Pat Gormley, Marty Scarano, Bill Naumes, Jill Hirschinger, Tony Tagliaferro, Amelia Wolflin, Cindy Glidden, Marilyn Hoskin, Mark Wrighton, Randi Hickox
The meeting opened with introductions and a welcome to new members.
Committee/Liaison Reports:
Athletic Director: Marty reported on coaching changes and progress with the new turf fields.
Student Senate: Amelia discussed the new web site for the Student Senate
Awards: Cindy has met with Carol Sanborn about procedures. The AAC promised to support Cindy’s efforts
Faculty Senate: Mark welcomed the chance to represent the AAC in the Faculty Senate. He will also represent AAC interests on the Town/Gown committee.
Equity: Pat emphasized the need to find a student-athlete and an additional coach to serve on the Equity Committee. Marilyn will also serve on this committee.
Safety: Steve Metcalf will convene this committee in late October.
NCAA Certification Report: There was discussion of the letter from the NCAA, extending certification, but also emphasizing certain areas as we prepare for the second round of self-study/certification. The most important area will be the diversity/minority opportunities plan. The Equity Committee will look carefully at this area. The interim report is available on the AAC web site.
