Minutes

Present: Carol Sanborn, Mike Souza, Steffan Kelsey, Heather Barber, Pat Gormley, Steve Hardy, Patty Bedker, Bill Naumes, Amanda Wilson, Mark LaBarbera, and Steve Metcalf

Absent: Jim Farrell, Tony Tagliaferro, Andrea Encarnacao, Judy Ray, Terri Winters

Steve H. introduced Bill Naumes (WSBE), who will fill the sixth faculty seat, and Amanda Wilson (Student Body VP) who is replacing Kate Kokko.

The minutes of November 1999 meeting were approved

Reports/Old Business

FAR Report - Steve H passed out a note from the NCAA about round 2 of certification, which will place special emphasis on equity issues. Pat Gormley wondered if the new members could get a copy of the NCAA Self Study. [NOTE: THIS IS AVAILABLE ON THE UNH INTRANET WEB SITE, AT: http://www.unh.edu/ncaa-study/index.html]

Safety – most of the meeting involved a discussion with Steve Metcalf and Mark Labarbera about Athletics progress on the major issues identified in the 1999 Safety Report. Steve and Mark will return in March with a detailed progress update.

Equity - Pat G. reported that the Equity Committee held its first meeting in December, examining Athletic’s progress on issues identified in the 1999 Equity Report. The key areas of concern continue to be marketing and public relations. The committee will ask Mark L., Scott Stapin, and Dot Sheehan to attend their next meeting to provide details.

Awards - Carol S. reported Young Dawkins of the Foundation had promised $2000 in perpetuity for the Awards Reception in May.
