at UNH:
Finding Things on the UNH Web Intranet.
We refer to all of our campus network as our
"Intranet", which is one very small piece of the
overall Internet. Size is relative, however, since
as of fall 1998 there were over 50,000 publicly-accessible
Web pages on the UNH campus Intranet!
To search the UNH Intranet we installed
Infoseek as a search engine.
The primary Web server on the campus Intranet is called
"UNHINFO" and is where many departmental and
office Web pages are served.
UNHINFO is also called "unh.edu" for the information
that University Publications designs for an
off-campus audience. Finding things on UNHINFO
is a combination of following the layout and using
the search engine -- and bookmarking useful pages
when you find them. In addition we have a
top-ten list of useful UNHINFO pages for locating
additional information.
Another major Web server for the campus is
called
Pubpages
and it is used primarily for personal and
experimental Web pages served from
accounts on the central Unix systems
(CISUNIX).
