UNH was involved with the Cornell Theory Center's (CTC) Smart Node Program as an "associate." Due to federal funding cut-backs, Cornell is no longer able to support associates outside of New York State. See the letter below.

Subject: Oct 1 end of Smart Node accounts

Dear Colleagues:

Smart Node accounts have been an excellent way for researchers
and Smart Node staff to become familiar with CTC's resources.
For many, these accounts have been a stepping stone to truly
understanding the computational environment, gaining regular
allocations, and doing ground-breaking research.

However, as we advised earlier, the Cornell Theory Center will not be
able to continue to serve the large national user community in the same
way it once did. In particular, for non-New York State Smart Node sites,
we will discontinue Smart Node trial accounts and Smart Node block grant
accounts on October 1, 1997.

We would like to thank each of our Smart Node advisors and consultants
for making the Smart Node allocations a great success.

Sincerely,

Mike Hammill, Project Leader,
