Highlights in Infoseek 3.0

On November 29, 1998, we upgraded Infoseek from version 2.1 to version 3.0 and a complete set of release notes and patches is available. See also the 2.1 features highlights.

The purpose of this document is just to highlight and comment on a couple of those items:

• Remote Anchor Text.
  Infoseek now indexes the hyperlink text that is bracketed by the anchor tag, i.e.,
     <A HREF= ... >hyperlink text<A>
  When doing a search, this indexed text is searched both in ordinary searches and with the special search field of "anchor:", e.g.,
     anchor:periodical

• Content Classification Engine (CCE).
  This is a new, separately licensed feature of Infoseek. We do not have immediate plans to license it.
