GROUP EQUIPMENT: (Trip Leaders will provide these.)

01)* first aid kit (including all emergency forms)

02)* tent with ground sheet

03)* stove, bottles, & fuel

04)* cooking gear and food

05)* map, compass, & guidebook

06)* survival kit, candle, whistle, purification tablets or filter/purifier


DAY TRIPS: (PERSONAL GEAR EVERYONE BRINGS)

01)* sturdy leather hiking boots - waterproofed and broken in

02)* wool, fleece or Hollofil socks [2-4 pairs] (with polypro liner socks)

03)* polypropylene, Capilene, Bergelene, Thermax etc. long underwear

04)* pile fleece, wool, or extra polypro bottoms (no jeans/sweatpants)

05) shorts (with pockets)

06) T-shirt (NHOC logo preferable!) :>

07)* wool sweater, fleece jacket or extra polypro top (total of 3 top layers)

08)* wind/rain jacket with hood (preferably breathable- i.e. Gore-tex, System 3 ect.)

09)* wool, polypro, or fleece hat

10) warm mittens (better than gloves)

11) flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries and bulb

12) sunglasses (for snowy and/or above tree line use)

13)* one quart water bottles [2]

14) sturdy cup and spoon (insulated- Green Mountain etc.)

15) bandana, scarf, or neck gaiter

16) garbage bag

17) day pack

18) sunscreen and/or insect repellent

19) any medications-optional-journal, pen(cil), watch, camera, film, binoculars, Complete Works of Shakespeare


OVERNIGHT GEAR: (in addition to day trip equipment)

01)* large comfortable backpack (4000-7000 cubic inches)

02)* sleeping bag (for season) - with stuff sack and lash straps

03)* sleeping pad - Ridge Test, Therm-A-Rest, Ensolite

04) personal hygiene kit - toilet paper, trowel, toothbrush/paste etc.)

05) spare shirt, underwear, socks


WINTER / EXPOSED ABOVE TREE LINE CONDITIONS:

01) gaiters (preferably breathable- i.e. Gore-tex, System 3 ect.)

02) mitten shells (preferably breathable- i.e. Gore-tex, System 3 ect.)

03)* wind/rain pants (preferably breathable- i.e. Gore-tex, System 3 ect.)

04)* warm boots (Sorrels or plastic mountaineering boots)

05)* balaclava - fleece, wool, or polypro

06) extra sweater

07)* crampons

08) ski goggles

09)* snowshoes or x-country skis and poles


Iteams with an asterics (*) can be borrowed for the trip through the outing club equipment room.
