The Trekkers Club prides itself in helping the student organizations provide quality weekend programming for the students at UNH. Previously, we have hosted such events as movies in our new MUB movie theaters, dances in Lumpy's, and a lectures such as "The Diversity of Star Trek" by Dr. Jeff Mills, of the Central Connecticut Star Trek Support Group.
In October 30, 1996 we hosted a Sci-Fi/Fantasy costume dance in Lumpy's. The event was well attended, and everyone got up for the downstroke! Below is a picture from the dance.

When First Contact boldly went onto the
big screen, we couldn't resist the temptation to turn it into a
successful Trekkers Club event. We took a busload of the
University's staunchest Trekkers and visited Canad Theatres on
Lafayette Road in Portsmouth, for the opening night show. The
event (and the movie, of course) was sold out; everyone had an
excellent time.
During Winter Carnival '97 the UNH Trekkers Club brought its famous "Trek Drinks" and other mocktails to the beach party, helping to create a Risian atmosphere, and once again earning our subtitle of UNH Beverage Club. Due to our wild success these drinks were made available in Lumpy's during it's brief tenure as a juice bar in the spring of '97. You'll be certain to see them again in the Trekkers Club!
Our work to bring a series of speakers to campus to discuss the space program continues. In a community dialogue under the title "Is the Government Space Program Really Necessary?" we came up with more questions than answers. Amongst them were, "Does Fox Mulder know more about the Space Program than we do?" and "Is commercializing space a good idea?" These issues certainly merit further discussion. Look forward to future talks on related topics.
Captain George set his sights on the stars for this club, and with a little help from Creation Entertainment, we got one. Check out the details on the UNH Trekkers club very first convention and see what sort of weekend-long excitement the UNH Trekkers Club is capable of bringing to UNH. This glorious convention weekend with Walter Koenig was the first of its kind to come to Durham. You can also read the report of Imperial Klingon Vessel QIbtaj on our first convention, held March 8th and 9th in the spring of 1997.
At the beginning of fall semester 1997, the club held a celebration of the Star Trek:Voyager 2 hour premier, in the MUB theater. We had a total attendance of 32, and gained at least 2 members.
Our 1997 Veteran's Day Marathon in Lumpy's was a great success. We watched First Contact and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Trek films have certainly improved over the years! More work was done regarding the spring convention during this time than at any previous meeting. It is the hope of the club to meet more often in a relaxed atmosphere like this one.
Wishcon 1997: November 1st-2nd, 1997, in Springfield, Mass. We hosted a variety of panels; all were well attended except for the last one hosted by Lleij. He's not bitter though. Members in attendance were. Capt. George Bullukian, Cmdr. Lleijok, Lt. Cmdr. Kurt Kraus, Ensign Tanya Hakala, and Chief Jayson H. Wood. Upon return Ensign Kelly Danforth was forced to make a promise that she will attend Wishcon next year.
Our following Q marathon in December was also a great success. This marathon was held in the MUB I theater and our advisor Ed "Q" Cabellon put in his promised appearance. It should be noted that our favorite omnipotent entity was quite impressive on the big screen, but the casual atmosphere of Lumpy's was missed by some crew members.

semester at Benjamin's
The beginning of Spring Semester 1998 saw the 3rd annual Valentine's Day Marathon, the majority of the people in attendence were the couples in the club. Love was in the air as Comdr. Kelly Danforth baked cookies for Capt. Lleijok, and Lt. Luny received a Grow-A-Date.
The opening of Fall Semester 1998 was Freshman Jukebox, we viewed Invasion America and set up tables with information for prospective members.
