The U.S.S. Williamson is another name for the UNH Science Fiction Club, which is an independent Science Fiction/Star Trek™ fan club for the students, faculty, staff and other members of the University of New Hampshire community. Since our recognition as an student organization in the spring of 1996 we have striven to provide a fun forum for fans of Star Trek™ and sci-fi in general to socialize and discuss issues dealing with fandom. Another of our goals is the realization of Gene Roddenberry's dream of intergalactic peace amongst all forms of life without prejudice. We have organized our club in a "ship" format, that ship being the fictional starship the U.S.S. Williamson.
Her registry number is NX-27168, the first of an experimental class of starship designed for the defense of Federation™ homeworlds, specifically against Borg™, and Dominion™ threats. Though the role of the U.S.S. Williamson prototype is primarily a military one, she is ready to perform diplomatic and scientific missions, if they should require the special talents of the ship and her crew. For more information please check out the ship's technical specifications.
The official motto of our club is; "The creative conquest of space will serve as a wonderful substitute for war."- James S McDonnell (builder of Mercury and Gemini space capsules) This motto represents our hopes that through the exploration and colonization of space world peace will be achieved.
