Several studies have been done to determine the number of civilian casualties in Afghanistan. All accounts put the number in the thousands. At least one such study, performed by Dr. Marc Herold of our own UNH, found the number to be more than 3700. This study was concluded several months ago, so this number could be as high as 5000.
The question must be asked: What has this war provided the American people? The majority of Americans feel no safer now than before the attacks on September, 11, and many feel less safe. The president's war has diverted much needed funds to the military and away from the American public and programs which would raise the economy out of the current recession.

UNHPJL shares an office with the Student Environmental Action Coalition in MUB room 116. Our meetings are Monday nights at 6 in the office. Anyone interested is greatly encouraged to attend.
